Brighten up your home for Spring with these super adorable emoji planters with succulents. In addition to being great decorative pieces, succulents are easy plants to care for. They require minimal maintenance, can survive year-round, can live in almost anything and best of all, you can use their cuttings to grow more succulents.
This DIY project is an easy, inexpensive way to add Spring greens to any room in your home. I chose to use artificial plants for this DIY despite having tons of live succulents throughout my apartment, but feel free to use which ever you are most comfortable with, real or fake.
Let’s get started!
What you’ll need……
Mini Succulent Plant(s) (artificial or real)
Mini Planting Pots
Acrylic Paint (white, pink, black)
Mixing Plate
Sponge
Paint Brush (fine/skinny)
Paint Brush (large)
Potting Soil or Styrofoam
Scissors
TIP: You can purchase mini planting pots, succulent plants and potting soil at your local Dollar Tree
STEP 1: Apply 2 to 3 coats of white paint to planting pots, allowing each paint application to completely dry in-between coats.
STEP 2: Once your pots have dried, use a black marker or pencil to sketch out emoji of your choice.
STEP 3: Once you have your design, paint over with black and pink paint.
STEP 4: After the pain has completely dried fill pot with potting soil (if you use real succulents) or Styrofoam and place your succulent directly inside the pot. Cut and shape plants as needed.
STEP 5: Place in any room of house!
TIP: You can leave the planters plain white without the emoji faces, and they will work just as great.
